Topic: Global digital networks transform the way we communicate with potential candidates By Richard Wood  Jul 2009
Our reputation for delivering best-of-breed business professionals to our clients is founded on our ability to instantaneously communicate with potential candidates, and technology is playing a huge part in our success.
The explosion of social networking websites, and their ability to globally link people together, are a business tool that we, as specialists in delivering the very best business people for the golf industry, use as a vital tool in our search to shortlist candidates.
Colt Mackenzie McNair is founded on a bedrock of traditional business values, but we understand the importance of utilising the very best, up-to-the-minute communications practices to ‘talk’ to candidates from many different industries, in potentially different time zones and across the globe.
Gone are the days where businesses open at 9am and close at 5.30pm, and we have to react to the needs of the golf industry that, quite simply, never sleeps. Linked-in (http://www.linkedin.com), Twitter (http://www.twitter.com) and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com), are perfect examples of global networks that we constantly use to privately communicate with candidates about maximising their business potential.
On sites like Linked-in – a global network focused at professional people – we have seen business groups develop across all industries which we can tap into and we would strongly advise any candidate to use such networks to create dialogue and relationships with like-minded individuals. As far as we are concerned this type of interaction is rapidly becoming essential, best practice for businesses and its employees.
The golf business needs new ideas, new people and new philosophies and new technology is providing a quick and easily-accessible route to a pool of new best-of-breed talent.
Ask yourself this question, when was the last time you picked up a telephone directory to find a person or business? Now the term ‘Google It’ seems to have replaced the 1980s Yellow Pages phrase of ‘let your fingers do the walking’, remember that?
The day will come very soon where interviews for very senior appointments will take place over the internet in full high definition real-time video. Compact mobile handsets will also be able to deliver the same video conferencing facilities.
In our experience technology should be embraced and it plays a huge part in the development of our business and our ability to consistently deliver the very best people into the global golf market.
